Summary:
Haiti is an Indigenous country in the Caribbean. Its people are descendants of West and Central Africans, as well as Taino Indians. Haiti is the birthplace of Liberation, the First Black Republic and an Empire that includes a Diaspora spread across the world. Despite its picturesque landscape, and warm people, Haiti faces significant problems that need unique and “out-of-the-box” solutions.
Haiti is divided into 10 Departments; Haitians in the Diaspora make up the 11th Department. It has a founding principle, “L'Union Fait La Force”, which translates into, “There is Strength in Unity.” The 11th Department organization was founded on this principle because it believes that together we advance Haiti’s future position and image around the world.
The 11th Department is a social network platform that offers a comprehensive and organized framework for the Haitian Diaspora to provide solutions that not only address the unique needs of local Haitians, but also address the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The 11th Department presents a new way of working with the Haitian Diaspora and an opportunity to “re-invent” Haiti.
