About The 11th Department
We are a community of active individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and Friends of Haiti working towards an organized community for a more prosperous Haitian Diaspora and Haiti. We have come together to leverage our human and financial resources, power, and influence for the advancement of Haiti and of our people.
The 11th Department is a non-profit organization with the mission to help move Haiti forward one project at a time. We do this by selecting and funding projects of the Haitian Diaspora that lead towards a more prosperous Haiti. Its members use the 11th Department Platform to discuss and debate the big issues facing Haiti and the Diaspora, and devise Projects that help tackle the most challenging problems facing the country.
As an organization, the 11th Department helps pull Haitian Diaspora Human and Financial Resources together to fund and implement Haiti and Diaspora Projects that the Diaspora Region communities have approved to work on. It acts as a "gatekeeper" and "manager" only. It is there to serve the Haitian Diaspora and Haitian interests.
Through the activities of the 11th Department Members, we advance Haiti's position and image around the globe.
Individuals, Nonprofits, and Businesses choose their membership type based on their preferred level of access and engagement.

Join Diaspora Regions
One of the first things you'll want to do after registering on the 11thdepartment.org is to join a Diaspora Region or Regions to participate or follow in the discussions taking place on various Haiti and Diaspora issues.
To join a Diaspora Region, first select the region whose "community" you want to visit, then click on the "Join this Community" button on the top right side of the page.
Each Diaspora Region is a "self-contained community" where you connect with other 11thdepartment.org members who are part of that community. All the connections, communications, and activities stay within each community (Diaspora Region) you join.
Join Sector Groups
After you join a Diaspora Region, browse through the Sector Groups and "Join" the sectors you want to participate in, or follow, the discussions taking place on various Haiti and Diaspora issues.
While you can join the Sector Groups that interests you in each Region, join the ones that can contribute to based on your experience, expert knowledge, and other skills. As a Sector Group Member, you will receive regular updates regarding the ideas and proposals under consideration and their outcomes.
New Sub-Sector Groups can be created by the Sector Group Leader within each main Sector Group to allow easier communication and decision-making.
Participate Actively or Passively
As a registered member, you choose how you want to participate, or get involved, with Haiti and Diaspora Projects. Be as active or as passive as you want.
As a Regular Member, you have to option to just "listen in" to the conversations taking place in various Diaspora Regions and Committees. This way you stay informed about the issues on Haiti and the Diaspora, or provide financial support to the Projects decided by the "Members" that benefit the Haitian people. Regular members have limited access on the platform.
As a Premium Member, you also have the option to just "listen in", or to participate in any capacity you like, get involved in Projects, connect with all members, access all the functions and features of the platform, and much more. You can be as visible as you'd like and join "like-minded" Haitians and Friends of Haiti who are working towards a better future for Haiti.
